How To Make Cozy Mittens From Recycled Sweaters

We have shown you many ways to re-purpose those old clothes, such as How to make love seat with recycled cloth and How to make Sweater Dog Clothes, but the project today is so fabulous.
Instead of tossing away those old sweaters, make cozy mittens to keep your hands warm in winter. For this sweater mitten project, you will need:
- A wool sweater (100% wool is the best, otherwise any sweater with material suitable for
- mittens)
- Marker
- Scissors
- 10 straight pins
- Sewing needle
- Embroidery floss, buttons, ribbon or whatever you want to use for decoration

This is such a great way to finally get rid of those old sweaters that just take up space in the back of your closet. Watch the tutorial from Natalie @ creme de la craft
There are two important additional steps you may want to add to the process.
- Felt the wool: Before you start the project, put the sweater in a pillowcase or a mesh laundry bag (so you don’t get fuzz balls all over your machine) and washing it on a warm-water cycle, then drying it on high heat. This process shrinks the fibers to thicken the wool to make it warmer and less likely to fray or fall apart when you cut it later.
- Decorate your mitten: Decorate your new warm mittens however the way you like! You can even personalize them and give them as gifts.
