Everyone loves a good moist chocolate cake from time to time, but who wants to make a huge cake for just yourself or for you and a loved one? After many hours of trying to figure out how to come up with individual chocolate cakes and make it in a jiffy, I looked at my coffee mug and then it hit me, put the cake batter in the mug and cook it in the microwave. It takes care of your sweet tooth and it won’t take forever.
The items that you are going to need for this little adventure is two microwave safe coffee mugs, some flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, white sugar, salt, milk, oil ( like canola ), mini chocolate chips, and these are optional things that you can get, whipped cream, cherries, and ice cream. You can also use store bought cake mix and just follow the directions on how to mix ingredients and the items that you will need for that.
Of course, you will also need a mug. Use your favorite one or shop for something new and cute first. There’s plenty of attractive products online as well, so you can certainly find what you like. Just take a look at offers at Overstock and buy with amazing discounts.
If you are doing it from scratch you are going to need two bowls, one bowl for the dry ingredients and the other is for the wet ingredients. Put all of your wet ingredients in one bowl and put all of your dry ingredients in a sifter and sift them so that they get incorporated together. Now take an electric hand mix, start on a low setting and slowly add the dry ingredients until all of it is incorporated into the wet ingredients.
Before you put the mugs in the microwave you are going to want to sprinkle a few chocolate chips on top of the batter and then you can microwave each mug separately for one minute and ten seconds.
When they are done in the microwave let them sit for one minute before you open the door. Now here is the fun part and it gives you a chance to act like a kid. Use whatever kind of toppings you want to use on top of your chocolate cake mugs. You could use whipped cream, chocolate sauce, chopped nuts, and a cherry if you are going for the ice cream sundae affect. You could also use other types of fruit that you like or you could use peanut butter chips and make it like a peanut butter cup.
The possibilities are absolutely endless when you make these yummy little treats. If you are not into chocolate too much then you can use other cake recipes or other cake mixes. You could also experiment with it and put other items between the cake batters and give it the layered effect so then you can have a little surprise in the middle to enjoy.
